sustainability matters Dimensions: 39cm x 43cm x 151cm Title: Regrowth Statement: A Chair being swallowed by moss is stood on 4 extended, spindly legs, holding it up like a new born fawn. I have used a scrap chair and moss from my garden to bring it back to its roots as part of nature, letting the wood grow again. My studies have included looking at environmental issues and integrating nature into my art work by taking broken manmade objects and trying to repair them to change their meaning or function. The ideas I have looked at have included up-cycling; where items are frequently thrown out to buy new, ethical materials; where to source the moss and my chair from and how thrown out furniture, such as through fly tipping, is reintegrated into nature and the time this takes. The chair is too high to be practical and the extended legs are covered in thorns, I would like to consider the accessibility of some methods of environmentalism and how some aren’t available to th
